Empowering Women Through Total Wellness: The WDS Women's REACH Initiative: Resources, Education, Access, Community & Health Empowerment

The Women's Dermatologic Society (WDS) proudly presents the Women's REACH Initiative: Resources, Education, Access, Community & Health Empowerment, a transformative outreach program dedicated to uplifting women in shelters by addressing their comprehensive health and wellness needs. Through this program we aim to empower women with the knowledge and tools to care for their skin, body, and mind, fostering confidence and self-worth as they transition to independent living.

Program Overview

Launched in 2018, the Women's REACH Initiative: Resources, Education, Access, Community & Health Empowerment focuses on holistic health education, covering topics such as skincare, nutrition, stress management, and self-care practices. By collaborating with shelters, women's centers and other similar venues across the United States, WDS members provide interactive workshops and resources that promote overall well-being and self-esteem.

Program Highlights

  • Educational Workshops: Interactive sessions led by WDS dermatologists and volunteers on topics like skincare routines, nutrition, and stress reduction techniques.
  • Takeaway Wellness Bags: Participants receive bags filled with skincare products, educational materials, and self-care items, generously provided by our sponsors.
  • Customized Programming: Events are tailored to meet the specific needs of each shelter's residents, ensuring relevant and impactful content.
  • Collaborative Engagement: Opportunities for medical students and professionals to engage with communities, fostering a sense of connection and support.

The WDS also may provide takeaway bags for the women in the shelters thanks to our generous sponsors! (Event chairs must be WDS members)
 

How to Host a Women's REACH Initiative Event

  1. Select a shelter, women's center, or other venue serving women and their families
  2. Select your event details (Date, Time, Type of Event & Programming)
  3. Complete the Women's REACH Initiative Event Request Form at least one month prior to event 
  4. Host your Event & Take Photos/Video (make sure to fill out photo consent forms for any non-WDS member being photographed)
  5. Recap & Wrap Up - submit photos and a short write-up of your event to [email protected]
